Men will embarrass you!

It was a bright Saturday morning when Anita, a 22-year-old second-year campus student, woke up feeling particularly romantic. Her boyfriend, Charles, a suave 43-year-old businessman, had promised her they’d spend the weekend together. But curiously, he hadn’t picked up her calls the entire previous evening.

Anita brushed it off Charles was busy after all, always jetting around Nairobi in his silver Toyota Prado, talking about “business meetings.” She convinced herself he’d be thrilled to see her unannounced.

So, armed with a bag of homemade samosas (a gesture of love she’d learned from TikTok food hacks), Anita boarded a matatu heading to Charles’ estate in Runda.

Anita arrived at the tall, imposing gate, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. She pressed the buzzer.

“Hello, nani huyo?” came a gruff voice from the other side.

“It’s Anita,” she chirped. “I’m here to see Charles.”

The guard hesitated but finally let her in. “Ona usifanye kelele huko ndani,” he warned cryptically. Anita didn’t pay much attention—her heart was racing as she approached Charles’ luxurious bungalow.

The front door was slightly open, so Anita peeked inside. She was about to call out, “Babe!” when she heard laughter from the living room. Peering around the corner, her jaw hit the floor.

There was Charles, lounging on the couch in a vest and shorts, feeding grapes to a woman who looked like she had walked straight out of a KTN soap opera. Sitting nearby were two kids—one drawing on the wall with crayons and the other playing with a remote-controlled car.

“Charles!” Anita burst into the room, clutching her bag of samosas like a weapon.

The entire room froze. Charles turned pale. “A-Anita? What are you doing here?”

“I should ask you the same thing!” Anita shot back, her voice trembling with fury. “Who is this?” She pointed dramatically at the woman, who was now cradling a throw pillow like a shield.

“I’m his wife,” the woman said, narrowing her eyes. “And you?”

“I’m his girlfriend! We’ve been dating for a year!”

“A year?!” The wife leaped up, now wielding a slipper. Charles, sensing the storm brewing, stood up and began stammering incoherently.

“Let me explain—”

“No need!” Anita snapped. She turned to the kids. “Do you know your dad is a liar?”

The younger child looked up from their crayons and nodded solemnly. “We know.”

Charles, realizing there was no way to salvage the situation, tried to mediate. “Anita, let’s talk outside.”

But Anita wasn’t done. She threw the bag of samosas at him. One hit him squarely on the nose.

“Eat those with your real family!” she screamed before storming out, but not before snapping a photo of Charles’ bewildered face to upload to her WhatsApp status later with the caption: ‘Men will embarrass you!’

Back at her hostel, Anita regaled her friends with the story. They laughed until they cried, one of them dubbing Charles “Runda Romeo.”

As for Charles, The samosa oil stain on his nose served as a cautionary reminder.

And Anita? She decided to focus on younger, more transparent relationships. But first, she blocked Charles on all platforms—and made sure to delete his contact.

“Moral of the story,” she told her friends with a wink, “Always call first.
